Nicholas Teti has served on the Board of Directors of Suneva since April 2009 and as Chairman since July 2010. He was previously CEO of Isolagen, Inc., a biotechnology company which develops emergent, novel skin and tissue rejuvenation technologies. From 2001 to 2006, Mr. Teti was President and Chief Executive Officer of Inamed Corporation, a healthcare products manufacturer focused on marketing breast implants, dermal fillers to correct facial wrinkles, and devices to treat severe and morbid obesity, including the LAP-BAND Adjustable Gastric Banding System. He served on the board of Inamed in 2001 and was Chairman of the Board from 2002 to 2006 through the Allergan acquisition. Prior to Inamed, Mr. Teti spent twenty-five years at DuPont and DuPont Merck where he held a number of senior management positions including President and CEO of DuPont Pharmaceuticals. He currently serves on the Board of Enteromedics.
Mr. Teti holds a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A in Health Care Administration from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA.
Karon J. Morell is Chief Operating Officer at Suneva Medical. Ms. Morell has over twenty-five years experience in the engineering, regulatory and quality assurance of medical device and manufacturing companies. Her experience includes all facets of the quality disciplines including setting up quality systems around the globe. Prior to joining Suneva Medical, Ms. Morell was Vice President of Regulatory and Quality Affairs at Artes Medical. Prior to joining Artes Medical, Ms. Morell served as Vice President, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs at IsoTis OrthoBiologics, a company that specializes in the research, development and manufacturing of bone grafts. Prior to IsoTis, she served as Vice President, Quality and Regulatory Affairs at Medegen MMS, a company that specializes in Class I & II devices for intravascular solutions. Ms. Morell also held executive regulatory, quality and compliance positions at Nobel Biocare USA, Cardiac Science, Inc., and Newport Medical Instruments.
Ms. Morell holds a B.A. in Business Management from Southern California University.
Douglas Abel has served on Suneva Medical's Board of Directors since its inception in April 2009 and joined the management team in his current role in 2011. Mr. Abel brings over 20 years of aesthetics, dermatology, specialty pharmaceuticals, and medical device experience to Suneva. He was previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of Onset Dermatologics, an emerging leader in the development and commercialization of novel prescription products for the treatment of skin disorders. From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Abel was President and Chief Executive Officer of Manhattan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. a specialty healthcare company focused on developing and commercializing innovative treatments for underserved patient populations with a focus on skin care; and subsequently served as the Chairman of Manhattan's Board of Directors. Prior to joining Manhattan, Mr. Abel served as Vice President and Dermatology Business Unit Head for Biogen Idec. Mr. Abel spent over 12 years with Allergan where he held a number of positions including serving as a member of the pioneering BOTOX® teams in both Neurology and Aesthetics.
Mr. Abel holds a B.A. in Chemistry from Lafayette College in Easton, PA and an M.B.A. from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.
Kathryn Gilbert is Vice President of Marketing at Suneva Medical. Ms. Gilbert has over eighteen years sales and marketing experience in the life science and medical device industries. Prior to joining Suneva Medical, Ms. Gilbert served as Sr. Director, Product Management and Marketing Communications at Solta Medical, responsible for global marketing programs promoting the Thermage and Fraxel brands with aesthetic practitioners and consumers. Prior to Solta Medical, she served as Director of Marketing for Ciphergen BioSystems, a company that specialized in the discovery of protein biomarkers as diagnostics for disease. Ms Gilbert has also held a variety of sales, marketing and technical positions at life science companies in both Europe and the USA including Boehringer Mannheim, Genzyme, Inc, and Millipore, Inc.
Ms. Gilbert holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from University of Warwick, United Kingdom.
Stewart M. Brown is Vice President and General Counsel at Suneva Medical. Mr. Brown has extensive experience in the medical device field and with dermal fillers in particular. Before joining Suneva, Mr. Brown was a partner practicing intellectual property litigation and counseling at DLA Piper, one of the world’s largest law firms. Mr. Brown is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Brown holds a B.A., cum laude, from Vanderbilt University and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
